Around 25,500 candidates in local elections in Belarus

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – Around 25,500 candidates will be vying for the seats on the local councils of deputies of the 26th convocation, Lydia Yermoshina, chairperson of the central election commission of Belarus, told a press conference on 17 March. Commenting on the nominations, Lydia Yermoshina said that 1.2 candidates will be contesting one seat in the local elections in Belarus. This is higher than in the elections in 1999, 2003 and 2007. 

Belarus to continue all-round cooperation with OSCE

MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – Head of the Belarus President Administration Vladimir Makei held a meeting with Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Marc Perrin de Brichambaut on 15 March. The sides discussed the development of cooperation between Belarus and the OSCE and the activities of the OSCE Office in Minsk. In particular, Vladimir Makei noted that Belarus intends to continue the active cooperation with OSCE taking into account the equal approach to all areas of the OSCE activities.

Gomel hosts BelTA photo exhibition timed to 65th anniversary of Great Victory

GOMEL, 11 March (BelTA) – BelTA’s photo exhibition “The Winners” opened in the Gavriil Vashchenko Gallery of Gomel on 11 March, BelTA has learnt. The exposition features more than 70 large-format pictures timed to the 65th anniversary of Great Victory. In the photo you can see participants of the Great Patriotic War. Grigory Denisenko, the Hero of the Soviet Union, Honorary Citizen of Gomel and the Gomel Oblast, took part in the opening ceremony of the BelTA photo exhibition. 

Gomel Oblast, Vysocina Region to develop cooperation

GOMEL, 24 February (BelTA) – The Gomel Oblast of Belarus and the Vysocina Region of the Czech Republic will develop partnership relations between their towns. The agreement on this was reached during a meeting of Deputy Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Boleslav Pirshtuk and Honorary Consul of Belarus to the Czech Republic Irzi Krzivan, BelTA has learnt. The town of Trebic may become the first Czech town which will establish the partnership relations.
